Tortuga Cuina Creativa was founded in 2021 by three long-time friends in Barcelona who shared a dream: to create a restaurant that combines high-quality fresh food, a cozy and friendly ambiance, and a commitment to responsible dining. Conveniently located in the heart of Barcelona, Tortuga offers an inviting space for both locals and tourists to experience its unique culinary offerings. The restaurant is known for its carefully selected wines, exceptional tapas and mains, and exquisite desserts crafted by the talented chef Pedro Gonzalez.

The menu is a tribute to local culture, focusing on shared dishes that embody the tapas concept. Tortuga believes in the power of local flavors. The chef curates a menu that showcases the abundance of nearby farmers' produce, ensuring that every diner's experience reflects the essence of Barcelona's vibrant culinary scene. At the same time, the menu is infused with the chef's own experiences and global culinary influences, offering a unique fusion of local and international flavors.

 

SUSTAINABILTY AT THE CORE ā€‹

 

Tortuga is dedicated to reducing its ecological footprint. The restaurant is not only about exceptional food but also about embracing eco-friendly practices throughout its operations. From reducing food waste to adopting energy-efficient technologies, Tortuga strives to leave a positive impact on both its guests and the environment.

Some of Tortuga's sustainable practices include:

  • Preparing all dishes in-house.

  • Changing the menu with the seasons to respect the seasonality and availability of produce.

  • Using recycled paper for takeaway containers.

  • Donating a percentage of profits to NGOs focused on cleaning oceans and protecting marine life.

Tortuga's commitment to sustainability is a daily practice and part of its journey toward a greener, healthier future.

Xef Pedro González Maradei

 

 

El xef Pedro González Maradei comença el seu viatge culinari l'any 2011, quan un nen brasiler que aspirava a ser xef es va traslladar a la ciutat de Nova York per estudiar pastisseria al reconegut French Culinary Institute.

DE LES AMÈRIQUES A AUSTRÀLIA

Després de graduar-se, Pedro González va decidir viatjar un parell d'anys per tot el món. Treballant i experimentant diferents cultures amb l'objectiu de desenvolupar el seu propi estil de cuina i combinació de sabors de la seva experiència arreu del món.

L'any 2016, el nostre xef va decidir ampliar els seus coneixements culinaris i afegir la cuina tradicional francesa a les seves habilitats de pastisseria, així que va decidir inscriure's al programa d'arts culinàries del reconegut Le Cordon Bleu de Sydney, Austràlia. On el nostre xef es va enamorar de la cuina principal. Allà va tenir l'oportunitat de treballar en diversos establiments de restauració amb grans xefs i desenvolupar més la seva cuina en el que és avui.

UN CUINER ÚNIC PER A UN MENJAR ÚNIC

L'any 2019, Pedro González es va traslladar a Barcelona amb l'objectiu d'obrir el seu propi restaurant. A la vista de la pandèmia, va ajornar els seus plans un parell d'anys.

L'octubre de 2021, el Restaurant Tortuga va obrir oficialment les seves portes. Al seu restaurant, Pedro González ofereix plats inspirats en els seus viatges, xefs que ha conegut o per als quals ha treballat, tot amb un toc de la seva personalitat solar.

We are proud to contribute to this cause by donating 1% of our profits to support their vital work.
