Tortuga Cuina Creativa was fouded on 2021 by the joining of three long time friends living in Barcelona that shared the same dream, create a restaurant that offers at the same time high quality fresh food, a cozy friendly ambience and responsible dinning. Conveniently situated in the heart of Barcelona, at a central location for both locals and tourists making it easy for you to visit us and try the Tortuga experience. With specially selected wines, excepcional tapas and mains and exquisite deserts created by our talented chef Pedro Gonzalez. Come to visit us!

​ At Tortuga, tapas is not just a meal; it's a celebration of Barcelona's culinary heritage. We wanted to respect and pay homage to the local culture by creating a menu focused on shared dishes (tapas concept). Our menu is a symphony of tastes, each dish crafted to showcase the vibrant and diverse ingredients sourced from local farmers and markets. From patatas bravas with a twist to succulent Iberian ham, every bite tells a story of the region, at the same time using influences from our chef's travels around the globe.

Tortuga Restaurant is dedicated to reduce its ecological footprint. It's not just about exceptional food; we are committed to implementing eco-friendly practices throughout our operations, from reducing food waste to embracing energy-efficient technologies. ​

 

We strive to leave a positive impact on both our guests and the environment, and ultimately leave this world better than when we got here. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond rhetoric; it's a daily practice, a journey towards a greener, healthier future.

Some of our sustainable practices are:

  • All our dishes are made at the restaurant.

  • Our menu changes with the seasons to better respect the produces seasonality and availability.

  • Out take away containers are made with recycled paper.

  • We give a percentage of our profits to NGOs that focus on cleaning oceans and the protection of marine life.

Chef Pedro González Maradei


Chef Pedro González Maradei starts his culinary journey back in 2011, when a Brazilian kid that aspired to become a chef moved to New York City to study pastry at the renowned French Culinary Institute.


FROM THE AMERICAS TO AUSTRALIA


After graduate, Pedro Gonzádez Maradei lived in the world for years with the aim of discovering his unique culinary firm with the world's savors.

In 2016, Pedro Gonzalez Maradei decided to study gastronomy at the famous Le Cordon Bleu school in Sydney, Australia. The chef is passionate about Mediterranean-Japanese fusion cuisine.


A UNIQUE COOKER FOR A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE


In 2019, Pedro González Maradei moved to Barcelona with the aim of hosting his restaurant. The pandemic forced us to reverse our project over the years.

In October 2021, the Tortuga restaurant officially opened its doors. In his restaurant, Pedro González Maradei offers dishes inspired by his journeys and his very personal personality..
